Project title “Child protection in Germany and Greece – an international comparison”
Project ID 57743339
DAAD funding programme / Higher Education Dialogue with Southern Europe 2024
The project aims to provide a comparative analysis of child protection systems and to gain a deeper understanding of the differences and similarities in the systems of the two countries. Participants will discuss strategies for preventing violence in children’s environments and strengthening institutional frameworks related to child protection. Professors, young academics and students will participate in two seminars — the first in Heraklion, Crete and the second in Emden, Germany. The aim is to create a continuous dialogue around child protection. In addition to the seminars, participants will carry out on-site visits to child protection agencies, both in Greece and Germany. These visits will include a) Observation of intervention processes, b) Discussions with professionals and social workers, c) Analysis of the challenges faced by the two countries in child protection.
This collaboration aims to lead to the development of guidelines for better child protection and to the creation of a strong scientific basis for combating violence. More importantly, however, it is expected to strengthen transnational cooperation to improve child protection policies.
The project is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service [DAAD] with funds from the Federal Foreign Office under the program “Higher Education Dialogue with Southern Europe 2024”
