A large team of researchers represented LaHeRS Lab at the 11th International Conference on Transport Research #ICTR2023, which was co-organized by the Hellenic Transport Association (SES) and the Institute of Sustainable Mobility and Transport Networks (IMET/EKETA) in Heraklion, Crete, between September 20-22, 2023, under the theme: “Clean and Accessible Multimodal Transport for all”. The Conference was under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the Municipality of Heraklion and the Technical Chamber of Greece and more than 200 participants from Greece and abroad attended the proceedings.
LaHeRS lab of the Hellenic Mediterranean University was represented by its Director, Associate Professor Maria Papadakaki, who delivered a welcome speech, and emphasized the significance of this scientific event for road safety in Greece. Emeritus Professor Dr Chliaoutakis Ioannis coordinated a round table discussion on juvenile violations of the Road Traffic Law (KOK). Among the invited speakers were the Commander of the Heraklion Traffic Police Mr. Karakoudis Stelios, the representative of the Heraklion Layer Association Mr. Geronymakis Georgios, the President of the Panhellenic Association of Driving Instructors Mr. Michelakis Eleftherios and the Associate Professor of Frederik University Dr. Parlalis Stavros, who presented the experience of Cyprus and laid the foundations for the cooperation of the Region of Crete and Cyprus in matters of safe mobility. The PhD candidate Ms. Lioliou Stavroula presented data that have been systematically collected and analyzed by LaHeRS Laboratory over the last 4 years, as part of an intervention program offered to minor offenders of the traffic law in the context of reformative measures and through official cooperation with the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of Heraklion.
Another LaHeRS member, Ms. Emmanuela Papadaki, presented a research study entitled ¨Visits to the Emergency Department (ED) due to injury sustained in a traffic collision: Data from a general Hospital”.
