He holds a PhD from the University of Crete with a specialization in social policy, as well as postgraduate and bachelor degrees in political scienceand international and European studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciencesand the University of Athens.
Dr Kougias has been awarded scholarships, inter alia, by the Democritus University of Thraceand the Hellenic Mediterranean University. He has taught BA and MA courses at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences,the Democritus University of Thrace and the Hellenic Mediterranean University.
Dr Kougias has extensive research experience (in international, European and national programmes). His main research interests include labour issues, social policyand social quality.
